Cost
Happy Porcupine Acupuncture uses a sliding scale for fees. The fee for one session of acupuncture ranges from $40 to $80.
Since acupuncture is typically not covered by insurance, and patients need to receive repeated treatments in order for acupuncture to be effective, cost can be a major barrier to treatment for many
patients. We believe that acupuncture can be beneficial to many people, and want the treatment to be as accessible as possible. This philosophy was inspired by the Community Acupuncture
movement.
Patients decide how much to pay, and this is a personal decision. Please keep in mind that $80 is the typical price of an acupuncture treatment in the Ann Arbor area, and that the purpose of
the sliding scale is to make acupuncture accessible to people who would otherwise be excluded. Some people choose to pay less per treatment in the beginning, when treatments are more frequent,
and more later on, when treatments are less frequent. Others may choose to vary payment based on fluctuating economic circumstances. Ultimately, the patient is the one who is most
familiar with their own situation, and the decision is theirs.
Cash, personal check, and credit card are all accepted. Due to credit card processing fees, the scale changes to $45-$80 if paying by credit card.
